A New York Giants legend is apparently in trouble with the law. TMZ.com says Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor was arrested Sunday night in Dade County, Florida. Police charged "LT" with leaving the scene of an accident and causing property damage. Taylor was released on 500-dollar bond. Taylor played 13 seasons with New York, where he had 132-and-a-half career sacks. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1999.
He won "American Idol" by the popular vote, so it's only natural he breaks the news of who is nominated for this year's People's Choice Awards. Kris Allen is set to announce the People's Choice Awards nominees this morning with some help from TV's biggest stars. Allen will be joined by actress Sofia Vergara of ABC's "Modern Family," Jeff Probst of CBS' "Survivor," and Cat Deeley of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance" as they make the announcements from Los Angeles at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time. A woman accused of stalking Justin Timberlake has been ordered to stay away from the pop star - permanently. On Monday, a Los Angeles judge granted Timberlake's request for a permanent restraining order against 48-year-old Karen McNeil. According to TMZ.com, while the singer was not physically in court, his lawyer presented the judge with a written declaration from Timberlake. McNeil was ordered to stay 100 yards away from the pop star, his home and his vehicle. She is also not allowed to attempt to contact him directly or indirectly. Last month, a Los Angeles Superior Court judge granted Timberlake a temporary restraining order against McNeil. Timberlake's attorney described her in court filings as a "mentally unstable celebrity stalker," noting that she had shown up at the singer's Los Angeles home on several occasions.
Jennifer Lopez has been granted a temporary restraining order that will prevent her ex-husband from distributing home video footage of the two taken during their brief marriage. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James C. Chalfant put the order in place on Monday. A hearing will be held today to decide whether or not to extend the order. Lopez's ex, Ojani Noa, reportedly wants to market the intimate video footage of the former couple. He is reportedly seeking to produce a tell-all-film based on their relationship. Noa and Lopez tied the knot in 1997 and divorced less than a year later.
The Disney Channel has greenlit another season of "JONAS," starring the Jonas Brothers. The guys will begin production in Hollywood in February and the second season will begin airing sometime in mid-2010 on the Disney Channel and DisneyChannel.com. The "JONAS" comedy series isn't the brothers' only project either. Kevin, Nick, and Joe Jonas have already begun production on the second season of their reality series, "Jonas Brothers: Living The Dream," while in Europe for their Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009. The new season of the reality show will debut in early 2010. They also have a movie in the works. "CampRock 2: The Final Jam" is scheduled to hit theaters in summer of 2010. In other Jonas news, Nick got a throat infection over the weekend that forced the Jonas Brothers to cancel a show in Switzerland Saturday night.
Chris Brown's upcoming "Fan Appreciation" tour may not be getting much appreciation from his fans. Citing several industry sources, BET.com reports the R&B star is having a difficult time selling tickets. Brown is currently serving five years on probation for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna last February. Insiders allege that Brown's arrest is the primary reason for the poor sales, as one source states, quote, "after that whole scandal, he's not exactly kid-friendly. What parent would buy their children tickets to his concert?" Chris Brown's agent is telling a different story, claiming that the singer's sales are doing just fine in this difficult economy. He tells the "New York Daily News," quote, "Dates are expected to sell out, and given the economic climate, ticket sales are doing very well." Chris Brown's "Fan Appreciation" tour begins Saturday at the House of Blues in Houston, Texas. The trek will visit 18 cities, eventually wrapping-up December 15th at the Nokia Theatre in New York City. Over the weekend, Chris Brown sat down with MTV's Sway to discuss his arrest for felony assault. Brown's former flame, Rihanna, also discussed the couple's violent relationship over the weekend on ABC's "20/20." Chris Brown's upcoming album, "Graffiti," hits stores on December 8th.
Forget what you heard about Janet Jackson breaking it off with longtime beau, music producer Jermaine Dupri around the time of her brother, Michael Jackson's death in June. "People" has confirmed that the two are still an item in spite of Jackson telling "Harper's Bazaar" that she was single. A source says, quote, "They never really broke up. Jermaine wanted to give her some space when Michael died." In related news, Janet is going to be the focus of a one-hour special to air on November 18th on ABC. The singer will sit down to talk with Robin Roberts for what will be her first prime-time interview since Michael's sudden passing. Janet's "Number Ones" greatest hits album hits stores on November 17th.
Lady GaGa is showing her tough side in her video for "Bad Romance." She tells "MTV News" she gets kidnapped by supermodels in the video. She says, quote, "I'm washing away my sins and they shove vodka down my throat to drug me up before they sell me off to the Russian Mafia." To keep with her outlandish style, the video also has the singer wearing razor blade sunglasses. She says, quote, "I wanted to design a pair for some of the toughest chicks....they used to keep razor blades in the side of their mouths. That tough female spirit is something that I want to project." GaGa cautions, however, that keeping razor blades in the mouth isn't something fans should try for themselves. Lady Gaga's "The Fame Monster," featuring "Bad Romance," hits stores November 23rd.
Miley Cyrus is going to be featured in this Sunday's episode of Fox's "Family Guy," but young fans may not want to watch. According to PopEater.com, the episode features "Family Guy" character Stewie Griffin faking cancer so that he can meet Miley Cyrus. Stewie is disappointed after finding out Cyrus is really an android who ends up terrorizing his city before finally getting killed off. "Family Guy" airs Sunday nights on Fox.
Wyclef Jean isn't just dropping a new album, he's also got some plastic for fans. "The Wall Street Journal's" "Speak Easy" blog reports that Clef has signed a deal with Western Union, enabling fans to now have their own Wyclef debit card. Wyclef spent Monday afternoon performing at the Nokia Theater in New York city to promote his new album, "DJ Drama Presents Wyclef Jean AKA Toussaint St. Jean From The Hut To The Projects To The Mansion," which drops Tuesday. The record features guest appearances from Eve, Cyndi Lauper, Lil' Kim, and Timbaland. Jean tells Billboard.com the album shows you can accomplish whatever you want. He says, quote, "If I came from nothing and became something, if I was chosen for greatness, then so can you."
Switchfoot is releasing their new album, "Hello Hurricane," today. The album's first single is "Mess Of Me" and the video for the track can be seen at Switchfoot.com. In a posting on the band's website, singer Jon Foreman describes how the album is about "the storms of life" and how they "shatter our plans." Foreman says, quote, "'Hello Hurricane' is a declaration: you can't silence my love. My plans will fail, the storms of this life will come, and chaos will disrupt even my best intentions, but my love will not be destroyed." Switchfoot is supporting "Hello Hurricane" with an appearance on ABC's "Jimmy Kimmel Live" Thursday night. The band will be playing the Roxy in West Hollywood, California on Wednesday.
A Wilmington, Ohio soup kitchen got a boost, thanks to TV chef Rachael Ray and singer Nick Lachey. According to News.Cincinnati.com, Ray gave Our Father's Kitchen new kitchenware, shelves, appliances and furniture Saturday before feeding the hungry with a great menu. Ray supplied a casserole, green beans, ham, and roast beef for the day. She says, quote, "This town has been devastated. We want to do something for them that will last much longer than one meal, one day." Ray did just that, donating a year's worth of food to the kitchen. Lachey, who also helped out, says the community is just one of many that needs help across the country. The singer says, quote, "What I'm hoping is that this raises awareness about hunger and pushes people to go out in their own communities [to] help out." The ClintonCounty city has a 15-percent unemployment rate.
Seal is getting ready to release a greatest hits album in December. It's called "HITS," and will contain 16 tracks spanning Seal's 20 years in the music business. Two new David Foster-produced tracks will also be a part of the album, due in stores on December 8th. One of the songs, "I Am Your Man," was written by Ashford & Simpson. The other is a cover of Sly and the Family Stone's funk classic "Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin)." There is also a CD/DVD package that includes the "Soul Live" DVD that contains nine live performances from his "Soul" album. Seal is also working on a new album of all-new songs set to be released sometime in 2010.
Rap superstar Jay-Z was joined on stage by a special guest star during his Sunday night concert in Los Angeles. According to RihannaDaily.com, pop starlet Rihanna stopped by UCLA's Pauley Pavilion to help "Hov" rock the house. Jay and "RiRi" performed their hit collaboration "Run This Town," as well as Rihanna's new single "Hard." Following her performance, Rihanna blew kisses to the crowd and yelled out, quote, "Los Angeles, make some noise!" Rihanna will return to the stage November 16th when she performs her entire upcoming album, "Rated R," at an undisclosed location in London. The concert will be broadcast live around the world. Fans can sign up to watch the show at Nokia.com/Rihanna. Rihanna will also be performing at this year's American Music Awards. The ceremony will air live on ABC November 22nd at 7 p.m. Rihanna's "Rated R" arrives on November 23rd.
Details are coming to light about the spending habits of financially-troubled actor Nicolas Cage. The Oscar winner reportedly owes six-million-dollars in back taxes and he recently sued his former financial advisor for bad advice. "New York" magazine has compiled a list of some of the "Leaving Las Vegas" star's extreme expenditures. Among them, Cage's 276-thousand-dollar purchase of a dinosaur skull for which he outbid fellow actor Leonardo DiCaprio at auction in 2007. Cage also reportedly owns one jet and two yachts. His homes include three castles and two islands in the Bahamas. According to "New York" magazine, a used 495-thousand-dollar Lamborghini is also one of 50 cars Cage owns. Cage has reportedly been downsizing his assets in recent months. He reportedly sold his Bavarian castle in April and also has homes on the market in California, Las Vegas and New Orleans. The actor blames longtime advisor Samuel L. Levin for putting him in financial straits. In his lawsuit against Levin, Cage alleges Levin, quote, "lined his own pockets with several million dollars in business management fees while sending Cage down a path toward financial ruin."
An attorney for comedian Katt Williams is speaking out in his client's defense. The Hollywood funnyman was arrested and charged with burglary and criminal trespassing Monday morning, but William Briggs says the charges are the result of a vengeful employee. Briggs tells TMZ.com that his client was in Coweta County, Georgia shooting a movie and was staying at the property of a friend and the movie's producer, Barry Hankerson. Briggs claims Williams was involved in a dispute with one of Hankerson's employees who lives in the guesthouse, and that the angry employee called the cops to falsely accuse Williams of burglary. Briggs says Williams had "full permission" to stay on the property and has been staying there for at least three weeks. The comedian was released from custody on Monday after posting more than 41-thousand-dollars in bond.
Andre Agassi is talking about Barbra Streisand in his new memoir. The 39-year-old tennis star bares his soul in "Open: An Autobiography." Released on Monday, the book has attracted heated publicity for Agassi's admission of drug use in advance excerpts. However, the athlete also uses the book to dish on his relationships, including a friendship with entertainment legend Streisand. The two had a well-publicized affection for each other in the early 1990s. "The Miami Herald" reports that Agassi refers to Streisand in "Open" as, quote, "a tortured perfectionist who hated doing something at which she excelled.'' Agassi has now admitted publicly that he, too, often hated something at which he excelled -- namely, tennis -- the sport which made him a millionaire.
Gwyneth Paltrow has signed on to play opposite Nicole Kidman in a new movie about the first publicly-known post-operative transsexual. The Oscar winners will co-star in the movie "The Danish Girl." "Variety" says Paltrow will play Greta, the supportive wife of Einar Wegener, the artist who, at his wife's behest, donned a female guise to stand-in as a model for her portraits. Wegener, to be played by Kidman in the film, eventually came out as a transsexual woman and had the first publicly known sex reassignment surgery in 1930. He eventually took the name Lili Elbe. No word yet on a release date for "The Danish Girl."
Actress Tiffani Thiessen is gaining a mid-section for her new role as a mother. Usmagazine.com reports that the former "Saved By The Bell" actress and her husband, actor-artist Brady Smith, are expecting their first baby next May. The couple has been married since 2005. Thiessen, 35, currently stars in the USA drama "White Collar" which airs Fridays on the cable network.
One of HBO's long-running hits is making its way to basic cable. "Curb Your Enthusiasm," created by "Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David, will get additional runs on TV Guide Network and TV Land. "The Los Angeles Times" reports that the 62-year-old David's loosely-autobiographical comedy will debut on TV Guide Network in February 2010. TV Land takes over the syndication in 2013 unless David and HBO opt to continue the show after its seventh season.
