It was quite an experience...let me tell you. I've never thought of myself as a tattoo person. I mean, we've all pondered the possiblity of "maybe it would look cute if i got...", but I never thought I'd actually do it. I think way too much. Like, what's it gonna look like in 20 years!? What if I don't like it?! I don't think I ever would have gone through with this if it wasn't for James. James is my best friend from Cali. He's here visiting:
He's got a few tattoos. And, somehow, he convinced me to get one. I was so against the idea thursday morning when I woke up. But by noon, I had completely changed my mind. Thanks to all of your suggestions on where to go, James and I headed over to Topper's Tattoo on the Bypass thursday afternoon. The whole way there I kept thinking about what Aaron, Jessica, Stacey and everyone who called in told me about the pain! By the time I got to the shop I was so nervous...like, I needed a paper bag to breathe in! (maybe not that bad, but I was shaking! haha) I may not look nervous, but inside I'm thinking "what am I doing in a tattoo shop?!?"

At Topper's, James and I met Jason and Justin. These guys rock! Seriously, I HIGHLY recommend these two. I wasn't really sure what I was supposed to be doing so I kinda just gave Jason a picture of what I wanted. He took the pic and drew an outline...and he made sure I was happy with it. Then, it was time. Time to sit in the chair. At this point, I really thought I might get sick. I don't think I've ever been so nervous. Then Jason started the tattoo:
Yeah, that's me being scared...and feeling slight pain. But Jason is a pro!James didn't even blink an eye. I think he almost fell asleep while he was getting his:

It was all over in about 10 minutes. Yeah, it hurt. But, thanks to all the listeners who said it was going to be the worst pain ever...I was prepared for it to hurt much worse than it actually did! Here's the finished product:

James got a really awesome ambigram. It's where the tattoo reads one thing one way, and another thing the other way. His says "Luck" one way...and if you flip it upside down it says "Fate":

I'd have to say getting my first tattoo was an AMAZING experience. Thank you to everyone who called in with suggestions and support! And a HUGE thanks to Topper's Tattoo! They are located on the Bypass. Check out their website www.toppersfinelinetattoo.com . Jason and Justin are super cool, way nice, and they do an awesome job. Thanks guys!!! |
