Chris Kelly's 1st Ever Third Blog!

I want to start by sending my deepest condolences and heart-felt prayers to everyone affected by the recent rounds of severe weather we've experienced lately. Many families in the area lost loved ones and many more suffered injuries and property damage. If you're looking to help, please contact any local branch of Farmers National Bank, as well as the local American Red Cross office.

On a lighter note, congratulations to the New York Giants on their recent Super Bowl victory! They shook up the world by upsetting the (then) undefeated New England Patriots. As a Giants fan, and a sports fan in general, it's great to see a team that noone really expected to win shock everyone. I think they even surprised themselves. OK, so now I've won our sister station WBGN's College Bowl Pick' em and correctly predicted the Super Bowl winner ... maybe I need to buy that lottery ticket, huh?

OK, it's been announced that there will be a remake of the original Friday the 13th and Hellraiser. Ummm, ok. What do you guys think? I understand why the big movie studios want to do this ... established franchise and fanbase ... take the old premise and rework it for a new generation ... make lots of money. I'm not opposed to remakes overall, if they're done right, and this has worked in the recent past (Rob Zombie's Halloween "reimagining," Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Hills Have Eyes), but do we really need a "new" Friday the 13th? Wouldn't another sequel work just as well? Do a cool recap in the opening, and then have Jason cause major chaos the rest of the time. I mean, Jason was only in the original for like two seconds at the very end anyway. Let me know what you think. Is this a good idea? Are you looking forward to it? Are there other movies that you think need to be redone? Drop me a line and let me know or if you want to discuss anything else going on in Hollywood, sports or right here in Kentucky. Thanks and God bless.

Chris
