Lil Wayne's dominance of the music world is continuing thanks to MTV.  The network reports the rapper has picked up his second nomination for the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.  Weezy's "Lollipop" is up for the Best Hip-Hop Video trophy.  He'll be facing off against Lupe Fiasco's "Superstar," Flo Rida's "Low," Kanye West's "Homecoming" and Mary J. Blige's "Just Fine."  MTV also announced that Lil Wayne will be performing at next month's show.  However, the network doesn't yet know what song Weezy plans to do.  Last week, Wayne was nominated for the Best Male Video honor.  The 25th MTV Video Music Awards will take place September 7th at the Paramount Picture Studios in Hollywood.  British comedian Russell Brand has been tapped to host the event.

The six-year-old daughter of Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood is reportedly out of the hospital and doing well after a near-drowning incident that left her in critical condition on July 18th.  LiveDaily.com quotes a statement by Fleetwood's wife, Lynn Fleetwood, who said doctors at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center are stunned by the child's quick recovery.  Ruby and her twin sister Tessa were playing in the pool at the home of some family friends when the accident occurred.  She reportedly swallowed a large quantity of water that caused her to lose consciousness.  The Fleetwood family says Ruby is now walking on her own, drawing and recognizing more of her everyday words and objects.  She is expected to continue treatment as an outpatient.

Paul Wall wants his fans to know he's doing just fine, despite Internet stories to the contrary.  SOHH.com reports the Houston rapper e-mailed the website after hearing rumors that he had been shot and killed over the weekend.  While Wall noted he was "fine," he added, quote, "My friend, Emmanuel Hobbs, was killed."  According to the "Houston Chronicle," 23-year-old Hobbs was shot during a gunfight in southwest Houston.  Police say three others were injured in the altercation.  Paul Wall is known for his songs "They Don't Know" and "I'm Throwed."  He also appeared on the 2005 Nelly song "Grillz," which is fitting because Wall has his own business selling the dental jewelry.

Cher's Malibu mansion is now up for grabs with a price tag of 45-million dollars.  The "Wall Street Journal" reports the pop queen has put her home on the market, two years after auctioning off its inside contents.  Along with the one-point-seven acres of land the mansion sits on, a lucky buyer will also get a view of the Pacific Ocean, six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, a theater, a gym, a tennis court, a pool, and multiple verandas.  The singer bought the property in 1992 and showcased her English Gothic Revival antiques in 2002's edition of "Architectural Digest."  Cher said she wanted to auction off the inside of her home and give the money to charity.  The decor is now said to be lighter and more beachy.  In 2007, Cher bought a condo in Los Angeles and sold a bayfront house in Florida for eight-point-eight-million dollars.

Actor Freddie Prinze, Jr. is joining the world of professional wrestling, but he won't exactly be getting in the ring for any smackdown action.  Prinze, a long time fan of the pro-wrestling arena, has joined World Wrestling Entertainment's creative team and will serve in a behind-the-scenes role.  The "Scooby Doo" actor is expected to contribute to the USA Networks' "WWE Monday Night Raw," as well as WWE's weekly TV and pay-per-view programs.  WWE Chairman Vince McMahon says Prinze's "passion, energy and creativity make him an excellent fit for WWE."  Prinze, the son of late actor and comedian Freddie Prinze, is married to actress Sarah Michelle Gellar.  In addition to the 2002 live action "Scooby-Doo" feature and its sequel, Prinze's credits include the movies "She's All That," "Down To You" and "I Know What You Did Last Summer."

Madonna received a warm birthday welcome when she returned to her home state of Michigan over the weekend.  Accompanied by filmmaker Michael Moore, "People" magazine reports the pop icon headed to the Wolverine State to introduce her documentary "Because We Are" at the Fourth Annual Traverse City Film Festival.  After the screening, a crowd of fans sang "Happy Birthday" for the star who will turn 50 on August 16th.  Madonna said, quote, "I don't get here enough.  It's great to be bringing my movie to a place that feels familiar."  More than 500 people showed up to watch the documentary about orphans in Malawi from inside the theater, while hundreds more watched through simulcast.  Madonna added, quote, "you can take the girl out of Michigan but you can't take Michigan out of the girl." 

Teen queen Miley Cyrus hosts the 2008 Teen Choice Awards, airing tonight on the Fox network.  Taped Sunday night at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, California, the results will be revealed during tonight's two-hour broadcast.  The "Hannah Montana" star was also among the multiple nominees this year with four nods.  The event recognizes popular icons for young people who have made waves over the past year in film, television, music, sports and fashion, presenting surfboard awards to those coasting above the competition.  The cast of the CW series "Gossip Girl" led this year's nominees pack with 14 nominations, followed by R&B sensation Chris Brown with nine.  Fox will air the results of the 2008 Teen Choice Awards tonight, beginning at 7:00.

Jermaine Dupri is trying to find the good side to what could have been a tragic situation.  According to TMZ.com, the hip-hop producer called the shooting that took place at his Atlanta nightclub Friday night "sad."  However, Dupri says he's, quote, "happy none of my people or friends got hurt."  He added, "the party continues."  The shooting reportedly occurred after patrons got upset that people were being double-charged to get into the VIP area.  Police say the club was being cleared following some physical altercations when a security guard was hit in the arm by a gunshot.  There's no word on any arrests in the case.  Celebrities like Sean "Diddy" Combs, Usher, actress Gabrielle Union and actor Larenz Tate were reportedly in the club's VIP section when the violence erupted.  TMZ cites sources who say the police investigation does not include any of the celebrities.

Golden Globe-nominated "Hairspray" actress Nikki Blonsky is out on on bail after she and her father were arrested on assault charges following an airport brawl in the Turks and Caicos Islands last week.  People.com says the altercation involved members of the family of "America's Next Top Model" contestant Bianca Golden and that Golden's mother Elaine was reportedly hospitalized with serious injuries.  Both Nikki Blonsky and Bianca Golden were charged with assault and actual bodily harm before they were both released on bail.  The charges carry a maximum sentence of two years in jail.  Blonsky's father, Carl Blonsky, faces a more serious charge of "grievous bodily harm," and is expected to remain in jail until a hearing is set on his bail.  Local police say the violence erupted after an argument over seats in the departure lounge of the Providenciales International Airport.  Nikky Blonsky played the lead role of dance-loving teenager Tracy Turnblad in last year's movie-musical "Hairspray."

The Las Vegas boys from Panic at the Disco say, despite their current world tours, they are still finding time to create a new record.  Band member Jon Walker said they have been working on the music amid touring.  He said, quote, "it was pretty much the same with the last record.  We've been working on acoustic guitars and then trying to bring it all together as a full band.  We're not sure what's going to happen yet, but we've been having a lot of fun."  He added that they haven't stopped writing since they stopped recording because there is so much to write about right now.  There is no set date for the new record but the guys say they hope to release it before the end of the year.

They're here.  The much-anticipated first photos of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's newborn twins have been unveiled.  The exclusive pics were revealed on the People.com website on Sunday, showing the cover of the magazine's double issue, due out today, that includes a 19-page spread on the family.  The cover photo shows doting parents Brad and Angelina dressed in white looking over three-week-old twins Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline as they are cradled in Jolie's arms.  The pictures, shot by Getty Images, were sold exclusively to "People" and "Hello" magazines for an undisclosed sum, though some speculate that the price tag could have been as high as 15 to 20-million-dollars.  All proceeds will go to charity.  In 2006, Jolie and Pitt sold the rights to the first photos of their other biological child, daughter Shiloh, to the magazine for four-million-dollars.  That money was also donated to charity.  Jolie and Pitt also have three adopted children  --  Maddox, Zahara and Pax.

 

Emmy nominated actress Christina Applegate has been diagnosed with breast cancer.  People.com quotes a rep for the "Samantha Who?" TV star who says Applegate was diagnosed with an early form of the cancer through a doctor-ordered MRI, and that it is not life threatening.  The rep adds that the 36-year-old actress is following doctors' recommendations for treatment and is expected to have a "full recovery."  It was announced last month that Applegate, would be among a number of celebrities participating in upcoming "Stand Up To Cancer" telethon, slated for simultaneous broadcast on CBS, NBC and ABC on September 8th.  Applegate shot to fame in the early 1990s, playing Kelly Bundy in the long-running Fox sitcom "Married With Children."  She is nominated for an primetime Emmy Award for her work in the ABC sitcom "Samantha Who?"  The Emmys will be presented on September 21st.

Funnyman Bernie Mac is said to be battling a case of pneumonia in a Chicago-area hospital.  His reps said that the comedian was responding well to treatment and is expected to make a full recovery, downplaying rumors suggesting the 50-year-old Chicago native was near death.  In a statement, Mac's camp asked the public to respect his privacy and that of his family.  Mac suffers from sarcoidosis, a disease that inflames the organs, however, his rep says the pneumonia is not related to the illness.  Mac, an Emmy-nominated actor, starred in "The Bernie Mac Show" which aired on Fox from 2001 to 2006.  His films include last year's "Ocean's Thirteen" and "Transformers." 

An injury actor Shia LaBeouf suffered in a car crash last weekend will be included in the plot of his latest film.  "Transformers 2" director Michael Bay tells "Access Hollywood" that LaBeouf's two fingers are pretty mashed, but that they're kind of writing it into the story.  LaBeouf needed "extensive hand surgery" after crashing his truck last weekend.  He was also charged with misdemeanor DUI.

No wedding bells yet for Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gylenhaal.  Reps for the actors are denying reports that suggest the couple is engaged.  People.com quotes one rep who calls the reports "lies."  Witherspoon, 32, and 27-year-old Gyllenhaal, began dating last year.  Witherspoon was previously married to actor Ryan Phillippe with whom she has two children.  The two divorced last year.

The stage is set for the August 19th "Bronze the Fonz" celebration in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  A new statue of the popular Fonzie character from the 1970s TV show "Happy Days" will be dedicated that day on the east side of the city's downtown Riverwalk.  Events include the official unveiling of the statue, a parade and free Fonzie baseball cards for everyone attending that night's Brewers-Astros game.  The parade will also feature Henry Winkler, who played the Fonz, and most of the cast from "Happy Days" riding in vintage automobiles.  Set in Milwaukee, "Happy Days" aired from 1974 to 1984 on ABC. 

Sharon Osbourne says Paris Hilton could never make it on America's Got Talent. "She has no talent. I'm sure Paris would tell you that herself. She's got a look that a lot of younger girls liked and copied. The timing was right for her. A lot of younger women looked up to her. She's very sweet, nice girl. But that's it. Then you put a full stop. It's over. So I'd say Paris is infamous."

Paula Abdul and her estranged boyfriend, J.T. Torregiani are in the process of reconciling. A source says, "They're taking it slow, testing the waters. They've gone on a few friendly dates. Torregiani wants to date her again. JT thinks she's a sweetheart. They have good chemistry."

Bow Wow, who plays a standup comedian on Entourage, has filmed his first-ever sex scene. He says he did with a porn star and expects it to air on the HBO show next season. "I know the girls, they're going to go crazy when they see it. The ladies are gonna go crazy when they see Bow Wow's first sex scene... It was with a porn star. I don't know her name. She probably watching this like, 'What? I did a scene with him, and he doesn't remember my name?' Nah, I don't remember her name, but she was bad though. She was baaaaad!"

Mariah Carey has purchased a $5 million West Indies home that features 5 bedrooms, a Jacuzzi and an indoor swimming pool. A source says, "Mariah has been busy in the studio, while Nick has been filming for his TV series. "So as soon as the pair get some free time they will be jetting out to their new pad to make up for lost time."
