Chris Daughtry is teaming up with CNN to tell people to get out there and vote. "People" magazine reports the "American Idol" alum is using his song to urge Americans, no matter who they're choosing, to head to the polls. Daughtry recorded a cover of the 1977 Foreigner hit "Feels Like the First Time" with the CNN League of First Time Voters initiative. The song's music video, featuring footage from both the Barack Obama and John McCain campaigns, made its television debut on Monday night's "Campbell Brown: Election Center." The singer also plans to perform the song at both the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. Daughtry said, quote, "I'm not here to push my political beliefs on anyone. We're equal-opportunity employers!"
Three more Jonas Brothers have been added to the pop pool, but these ones come in wax form. E!Online reports Kevin, Joe, and Nick showed up for the unveiling of themselves at Madame Tussauds in Washington, DC yesterday. The boys' figures strike a performing pose with Kevin and Nick playing their guitars while Joe grabs the microphone. Fifty lucky fans were chosen as the first allowed in to see the exhibit.
Michael Phelps' 8 Gold medals could net him $100 million in endorsement deals. His agent says he has been fielding 50 calls a day since the games began. Phelps could sign a deal worth $50 million if he leaves Speedo for Nike. His autograph value went from being worth $25 before the Olympics to $1,000. Speedo recently wrote Michael a $1 million bonus check for winning 8 Golds. Since his 8 gold medal wins, he has received more than 7,000 Facebook requests and 5,000 text messages to his phone.
Eve's next appearance on the big screen will be a historical one. SOHH.com reports the female rapper has been tapped for the film "Whip It!," which is the directorial debut for actress Drew Barrymore. Eve will co-star alongside Barrymore, Ellen Page, and Marcia Gay Harden. The film is about a misfit girl in a small Texas town who fights off her boredom through roller derby. Production is underway on "Whip It!," but no release date has been set. Eve's previous credits include the "Barbershop" films, "The Woodsman," and "The Cookout." She also had her own self-titled series on UPN from 2003 to 2006.
R. Kelly could be heading back to court. But this time, he's the one launching the legal action. According to TMZ.com, the R&B singer has filed a lawsuit against two California nightclub promoters. Kelly's litigation claims Toi Crawford and Shane Mooney used the singer's name and picture on fliers that stated Kelly would be hosting a party at Sugar nightclub. Kelly says he had nothing to do with the club. Kelly is asking the court for an unspecified amount of damages. The singer was just acquitted on 14 counts of child pornography back in June. The case stemmed from a videotape that reportedly featured Kelly having sex with a then-underaged girl.
Don't expect to see all members of the Jackson 5 reunite for the BMI Urban Awards next month. That's according to the "New York Post," which reports Michael Jackson hasn't been on speaking terms with his four brothers since 2005. A source told the paper that Michael even owes Jermaine, Tito, Marlon, and Jackie nearly 850-thousand dollars in back royalties. The Jackson 5 is being honored at the 8th annual BMI Urban Awards. They're slated to receive the Icon Award, which honors composer-performers who have made, quote, "a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers." Previous recipients include James Brown, Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Isaac Hayes, and Carlos Santana. The 8th annual BMI Urban Awards dinner will take place at the Wilshire Theater in Beverly Hills, California on September 4th.

She's just given birth to twins, but that's not stopping Jennifer Lopez from jumping straight onto the training wagon. The singer and actress said during an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America" Monday, that she plans to tackle a triathalon in Malibu on September 14th. Lopez said she first became inspired to run the race when she was eight months pregnant, adding, quote, "I was beached...like a whale, and I was watching TV and I saw a triathalon and I said, 'You know what? I think I could do that." Lopez will be running to raise money for the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. She says her husband Marc Anthony, with whom she welcomed Max and Emme into the world on February 22nd, is incredibly supportive of her training. She added, quote, "If I have to crawl across that finish line, I'm going to crawl across that finish line."
Christina Applegate says she's cancer-free. Just weeks after it was announced that she had been diagnosed with early stage breast cancer, the Emmy nominated "Samantha Who?" star now says she's "absolutely 100 percent clear and clean." Applegate shares her success story in an interview with ABC's "Good Morning America," set to air this morning. According to E! Online, the 36-year-old actress tells GMA host and breast cancer survivor Robin Roberts that she remembers "shaking" when she learned the results of a biopsy and that she quickly went into "take-care-of-business mode" with respect to finding a doctor to treat the disease. Applegate says, quote, "It did not spread. They got everything out, so I'm definitely not going to die from breast cancer."
Singer Phil Collins' bank account is reportedly a lot lighter. According to Britain's "Daily Mirror," the Grammy-winner has been ordered to pay his ex-wife, Orianne Cevey, nearly 47-million-dollars as a part of their divorce settlement. The amount reportedly makes the couple's split Britain's biggest ever celebrity divorce. Fifty-seven-year-old Collins and 35-year-old Cevey were married for six years. They have two children together. Collins was previously ordered to pay his second wife, Jill Tavelman, 34-million-dollars when they split in 1994. Collins' divorces have reportedly cost him around 84-million-dollars, a third of his estimated fortune. The singer's first wife was Andrea Bertorelli. Their marriage ended in 1979. They have three children together.
It seems 50 Cent really does get money. The rapper tops this year's list of "Hip-Hop Cash Kings," as decided by "Forbes" magazine. The publication says Fifty's 150-million dollars in earnings over the last year beat out his closest competitor, Jay-Z, by nearly 70-million dollars. "Forbes" attributes much of Fifty's win to a 100-million windfall he received when his share of Glacéau's VitaminWater was bought out by Coca-Cola. Sean "Diddy" Combs came in at number three on "Forbes'" list for the second year in a row, with earnings of 35-million. Rounding out the top five are Kanye West and Timbaland.
"Harry Potter" star Daniel Radcliffe is opening up about his struggle with a brain disorder. The actor, who plays the boy wizard in the big screen versions of the best-selling J.K. Rowling series, has a mild form of dyspraxia, which can impair a person's normal learning process. A rep for 19-year-old Radcliffe tells Britain's "Daily Telegraph" that Radcliffe's condition is, quote, "very mild and at worst manifests itself in an inability to tie his shoe laces and bad handwriting." The actor jokes that he sometimes wonders "Why, oh why, has Velcro not taken off?" The release date for the sixth film in the "Harry Potter" series, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," was recently pushed back from November 2008 to July 2009.
The wife of New Kids on the Block member Donnie Wahlberg has filed for divorce. According to TMZ.com papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, show Wahlberg's wife of nine years, Kim Fey, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. Fey is asking for sole custody of the couple's two children with visitation rights for Wahlberg. She's also asking for spousal support. Wahlberg and Fey separated last January. Wahlberg recently reunited with members of his 1990s boy band New Kids on the Block to record a new album, "The Block," due out September 2nd. The group, which also includes Joey McIntyre, Jonathan Knight, Jordan Knight and Danny Wood, will launch its North American tour September 18th in Toronto.
Some stars of "Dancing with the Stars" fell victim to thieves over the weekend. According to "E! Online," season six champ and Olympic ice skater Kristi Yamaguchi was eating dinner with professional dancers Mark Ballas and Derek Hough at a Minneapolis restaurant Saturday night when their van was broken into. Among the items said to be taken from vehicle owned by Hough, were passports, wallets, laptop computers and cell phones. Ballas and Hough were in town to do a charity performance with their band Almost Amy. They are offering a five-thousand-dollar reward for information leading to the safe return of their possessions. Tips can be shared at Almost Amy's MySpace page. The seventh season of "Dancing with the Stars" will premiere on ABC Monday, September 22nd.
Award winning actor Laurence Fishburne is headed to the small screen. CBS has announced that Fishburne will join its hit drama "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" this fall. Fishburne will play a former pathologist who is now working as an itinerant college lecturer, teaching a course in criminalistics. He then comes in contact with the CSI team and joins their crime lab. Fishburne will make his debut in the upcoming season's ninth episode. His character will arrive on the show around the time that actor William Petersen, who plays Gil Grisson, departs. Petersen has said that it's time for him to do other things, but he plans to stay on as a "CSI" executive producer and will "come back" in the role of Grissom, quote, "whenever CBS asks."
Art will imitate life for Hollywood husband-and-wife Angela Bassett and Courtney B. Vance this fall. NBC has announced that Vance will be joining his wife on the hospital drama "ER" for a multi-episode story arc this season, playing her character's husband. Bassett is also a new addition to the show. It marks the first time the couple has acted together. Vance's previous TV credits include "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," the original "Law & Order" and Lifetime's "State of Mind." Bassett earned an Academy Award nomination in 1994 for her turn as Tina Turner in "What's Love Got to Do With It," and a 2002 Emmy nod for the TV movie "The Rosa Parks Story." "ER" returns to NBC for its 15th and final season on Thursday, September 25th.
Former Minnesota governor and wresting star Jesse Ventura may be getting his own show. TVWeek.com reports that Twentieth Television is in negotiations with Ventura to host a syndicated daytime court show. If the deal goes through, the program would likely premiere in the fall of 2009. A studio spokesman would not comment on the rumored negotiations while reps for Ventura could not be reached. Jesse "The Body" Ventura previously wrestled for the WWF. His term as Governor of Minnesota ran from January 1999 to January 2003. He did not seek reelection. Earlier this year, Ventura released the book "Don't Start the Revolution Without Me," about a hypothetical campaign featuring him running for president.
"General Hospital" star Julie Berman has tied the knot. A rep for the 24-year-old actress, who plays the daughter of characters Luke and Laura Spencer on the ABC soap opera, wed her fiance, 27-year-old real estate broker Michael Grady, Friday in Los Angeles. Among those in attendance were Berman's "General Hospital" co-stars Rebecca Herbst, Jane Elliot, Greg Vaughan and Kirsten Storms. Berman and Grady have been engaged since May 2007. It is the first marriage for both. Berman says that her new husband is, quote, "the guy I want to do everything with - the guy I want to be with when he's old and wrinkly."
Tomboy rocker Avril Lavigne is under the Malaysian microscope for being "too sexy" for local tastes. According to the U.K.'s "The Mirror," the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party is trying to stop Lavigne's August 29th performance from going ahead in Kuala Lumpur. The group says the 23-year-old "Sk8ter Boi" singer sets a bad example for citizens and they don't want her performance to influence their people. Despite Lavigne's signature style that includes baggy pants and sneakers or boots, the party stresses they want only clean performances. They are especially adamant about the government banning her show because it's due to take place two days before the nation's Independence Day holiday. A rep for Galaxy Group, the concert's organizer, says Lavigne's show consists of no inappropriate content.
Just in time for tonight's season four premiere of MTV's "The Hills," one of the show's stars is releasing a new single. "Us Magazine" says "Overdosin'" is the latest track by "Hills" star Heidi Montag. She told Ryan Seacrest's KIIS-FM morning show this morning that her tune is a love song. Montag said "Overdosin'" is about, quote, "when you fall in love with someone and [you're] just overdosing off their love." "The Hills" airs tonight at 9 p.m. on MTV. The unscripted show features other headline-grabbers such as Lauren Conrad, Lauren "Lo" Bosworth, Audrina Patridge and Montag's fiancé Spencer Pratt.
Pink is standing by her estranged husband after the recent and sudden death of his brother. "People" magazine reports the singer accompanied Carey Hart and some friends to the Hard Rock Hotel's Wasted Space club in Las Vegas. There, the group threw a party to celebrate the life of Hart's brother Anthony who died in a motorcycle accident on August 9th. The funeral for the professional motocross racer was held earlier that same day. Pink not only performed a song in honor of Anthony at the club, but she stood by Hart's side as he took to the stage and toasted to his brother's life. An onlooker called the whole event very moving.
Shakira has been honored with the 2008 Humanitarian Award by the National Council of La Raza. The singer received the honor Sunday night for her work as a leading advocate for universal education. During her acceptance, Shakira presented audience member 17-year-old Pamela Jiminez Cardenas with her own Humanitarian Award for her work lobbying for the Education for All Act. Shakira called Cardenas a, quote, "inspiration to her peers and to all of us that are never too young to get involved."
MSNBC reports Jennifer Aniston grew tired of John Mayer's cheap ways. A source says, “He has a relationship with certain paparazzi (and) bloggers. He tips them off. He loves the attention. Jen didn’t want to believe it was happening, but it was, and she has no tolerance for that. Jen was tired of paying for everything. Cobwebs come flying out of (Mayer's) wallet when he opens it. John liked living like a movie star when he was with her. ... Jen would never say anything, but you could tell it irritated her.”
Kim Kardashian recently used her camera phone to record a sexy video of herself performing as a Pussycat Doll. She says Reggie Bush, who is at training camp with the Saints, was the lucky recipient. "We instant-messaged right before the show. He could see the costume and I did my whole little performance for him to show him what I was going to be doing. He asked me to take a video."
PETA slammed Linda Hogan yesterday after a picture of her wearing fur appeared on TMZ.com. Their statement read: "The cats made into this really bulky hat and coat were once vibrant and beautiful, but the skins from their slaughtered bodies make Linda Hogan look ten pounds heavier, out of touch, not a day under 70 and, need we add, stone cold-hearted."
